I KNOW THE MONTH OF MARCH BRINGS THE ONSET OF SPRING, however as I write this article, I am expecting another warm February day as we have experienced so many this year. It is not uncommon for February for us to look out our windows and be expecting snow or at least a frosty morning. We have certainly been blessed this February with unseasonably warm days. While I am not complaining about the warm days, I enjoy snow days as well. I love the beauty of snow. I know it causes travel problems and affects school, work and of course church schedules, but still I love to see the snow.
THE SNOW-COVERED LANDSCAPE REMINDS ME OF GOD’S TRUTH ALSO. In Isaiah, chapter 1, we find this beautiful nugget of truth:
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord,Though your sins are as scarlet,They will be white as snow;Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool.” (1:18)
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL TRUTH!God has taken our sins and forgiven them and cleansed us so that we may be made “white as snow.” We know that He accomplished this through the scarlet blood of His Son who bled and died at Calvary’s cross so that we might have forgiveness of our sins. Furthermore, we know that He raised Jesus from the dead on the third day so that we might have hope for all eternity! We have forgiveness and eternal life because God took our scarlet sins and made them white as snow through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus. How incredibly blessed we are! Thank You Jesus!
SO AS YOU LOOK AT THE SNOW THAT FALLS IN OUR AREA SOMETIMES, be reminded of God’s truth expressed through the snow and the relationship we are able to have with Him because of how Jesus has reconciled us to the Father through His sacrificial atoning death and His sin-defeating, grave-overcoming, life-giving resurrection!
ALSO I WANT TO SIMPLY REMIND YOU THAT THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE in our communities and in our world who do not know about Jesus the Savior. That’s why we must tell His story to a lost and dying world! That’s why we must be consistently involved in evangelism and missions. That’s why we must be constantly praying!
IN JANUARY I ASKED YOU TO CONSIDER ONE LOST PERSON. Following the lead of our SBC President, we have called this initiative “Who’s Your One?” For about two months now we have been praying for each name submitted and for each person that submitted the names. I want to encourage you to have a gospel conversation with your “one” if you haven’t already. If you have, then have another one. Remember, part of this initiative is for us to build relationships with lost and unchurched people so that the Holy Spirit can use our witness of the gospel to transform the lives of these lost people. So keep praying and sharing! A harvest of souls is ready to be saved!
WE HAVE A LOT OF EXCITING THINGS HAPPENING AT OTBC! I am grateful to our Lord for His abundant blessings.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU! SEE YOU ON SUNDAY!
