AS I SIT IN MY CHAIR IN MY HOME WRITING TO YOU, I am overwhelmed by the abundantblessings of God in my life in these days! Over the past 20 days of October, I have experienced my first cruise as Lesley and I cruised to the Bahamas. We had a wonderful time in a beautiful part of God’s creation! But the month was just beginning and only getting better.
FOR 42 DAYS WE WERE PRAYING TOWARD LIFE 19: BREAKTHROUGH which began on Sunday, October 13th. As you know the services October 13-16 were amazing! God spoke to us through music and through the messages Pastor Kevin Brown shared with us. I have no question but that many lives were transformed and many folks experienced a true breakthrough in their lives. I know that I did and still experiencing blessing upon blessing overflowing!!!
OCTOBER 18TH WAS MY 58TH BIRTHDAY AND 21ST ANNIVERSARY AT OTBC! I am thankful for my 58 years of life and my 21 years at OTBC. I was also blessed on my birthday to be able to be with Lesley and many of her Mary Kay friends at their annual beach retreat at Myrtle Beach. I was invited to speak to the Directors in the morning and then to the whole group (approximately 300 people) in the evening. Honestly, we saw God move in the meetings there just as He was moving in the services we had here earlier in the week. At about 11:00 pm that evening many women were raising their hands acknowledging a commitment to Jesus whether it was a first time commitment or act of rededication or request for prayer, God knows the details. Then I spent the next hour praying with ladies individually as they came and shared special requests and needs in their lives. I could not think of a better or more special way to spend my birthday!!! Thank you for cards, texts, FBmessages and every act of love and support shown to me on my birthday again this year. I deeplyappreciate each expression of your love and encouragement!
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20TH WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS AT OTBC THAT WILL BE long remembered as a day when God’s people “marked” His work in our lives on the altar of sacrifice and praise. Each song sung and each testimony shared gave glory to God and encouraged the body of Christ here at OTBC! Thank you so much!!!
NOW, IN JUST A FEW HOURS I WILL GET ON A PLANE WITH LESLEY and several other friends and we will make our way to the Holyland! We will visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel! This promises to be a life-changing experience for us all! Even though I have been a few times before,God always speaks a fresh word into my life during this experience. Thank you for your faithful prayers for us as we go!
NOVEMBER HOLDS MANY WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITIES FOR US! We have the Ladies’Holiday Banquet, The Taylors Concert, Operation Christmas Child emphasis, Thanksgiving service as well as our Sunday services!
AS WE MOVE FORWARD FROM WHAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED TOGETHER during these most recent days, let me encourage you to continue to pray and seek God! Seek His breakthrough in your life and family! Seek Him for what He has in store for you next! Be open to new opportunitiesand challenges! Be open to new opportunities He gives to us as a church in the days ahead! Let’sdo as the Lord instructed the Geresene man who was delivered from the demons “go home and tell your family and friends what the Lord has done for you.” We read he went and told not only family and friends but the people living in the ten cities around where he was. Let us do the same! It is a new normal for OTBC or as someone said in the service yesterday, “It is a new extravagant!!!” I like it!
MAY GOD BLESS YOU RICHLY! Lesley and I pray for you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving! See you on Sunday when we will give thanks to our God for every blessing He bestows on us and worship the One who alone is worthy of our worship!
